“People experience difficult times, and we aim for this to be a secure and inclusive space for everyone,” expressed Kimberly Williams-Paisley, co-founder of The Store alongside Brad.

“This holiday season, Brad Paisley and Kimberly Williams-Paisley are extending their generosity even further. Following the launch of Nashville’s The Store in 2020, providing free groceries to families facing poverty, the couple has expanded their initiative with a free toy store over the weekend. The two-day event allowed 400 families to shop for toys, video games, plush animals, scooters, clothes, makeup, and musical instruments, making gift-giving more accessible for those in need during this festive season. The effort continues The Store’s commitment to assisting Nashville residents living below the federal poverty line,” reported the Associated Press on Friday.

In an interview with the outlet, the 51-year-old Paisley expressed the emotional significance of enabling parents to fulfill their children’s wishes during the holidays, stating, “The emotional aspect of being able to give your child something your child wanted versus just something to sort of get you through the holidays, that’s such a load off the minds of somebody who maybe didn’t think they were going to be able to do that.”

The free toy store was organized by volunteers and staff from Belmont University and The Store. They also provided shoppers with a wrapping station for the approximately 2,000 items donated by Nashville residents and the First Responders Children’s Foundation. To ensure a seamless experience, parents browsing for gifts had the option of sending their kids to a nearby church, where they could play and enjoy hot cocoa.

Reflecting on the initiative, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, 52, emphasized the goal of creating a safe and welcoming space for everyone, whether volunteering or seeking services. She remarked, “People come on hard times, and we want this to be a safe, welcoming place for everybody, whether you’re volunteering or whether you’re needing the services. It’s just a community, and we’re all in it together.”

While expressing the desire to make the free toy store a recurring event, Kimberly Williams-Paisley and Brad Paisley acknowledge the ongoing need for donations to sustain The Store’s mission of providing free food to Nashville residents facing hardships throughout the year.

Williams-Paisley emphasized the persistent challenges, stating, “We’re still not serving everybody that we want to serve. Food insecurity is on the rise. The USDA just released its report saying 17 million households in this country are facing food insecurity and that’s on the rise from 2021. There’s so much we want to do. And really, like the toy store has shown us that we can keep going and we can keep expanding and growing.”

In April 2021, the couple shared with PEOPLE their accomplishment of delivering nearly 1.3 million meals during The Store’s inaugural year. Williams-Paisley expressed, “This has been our dream. People will be able to come and shop with dignity and make choices for their family.”
