Ella Langley recently shared her own rendition of Shania Twain’s classic hit “You’re Still the One” in a video posted on TikTok.
Shania Twain has high praise for rising country star Ella Langley, applauding her authenticity and confidence as an artist.
In an interview with Rolling Stone published on July 22, the 60-year-old country icon was asked whether Langley’s rapid success reminded her of her own breakout during the 1990s.
Twain described Langley as a genuine songwriter with a distinctive sound that immediately stands out.
“I see her as an authentic songwriter,” Twain said. “She sounds original.”
She went on to say that Langley’s willingness to remain true to herself is one of her greatest strengths.
“That already sets her apart,” Twain explained. “She comes across as someone who’s completely unapologetic about who she is, and that naturally earns respect. You can sense it in her presence, her personality and the way she performs. I believe every word she sings.”
Twain’s comments follow Langley’s recent TikTok cover of the classic hit “You’re Still the One.” Sharing the performance, Langley wrote that she would “never get over” the song.
Twain responded in the comments with a heartfelt message, thanking Langley for the tribute and saying she enjoyed meeting her at the ACM Awards.
Ahead of the ACM Awards in May, Twain also spoke to USA Today about her admiration for the 27-year-old singer. She said Langley’s music reminds her of the traditional country sound she grew up listening to and performing.
Twain noted that she has often heard people in the industry worry that songs can sound “too country,” a mindset she has never understood. For her, Langley embraces the classic country-western style that she feels has been missing from the genre in recent years.
Meanwhile, Twain is preparing to release her new studio album, Little Miss Twain, on July 26. The project has already been previewed with the singles “Little Miss Twain,” “Dirty Rosie,” and “Faded Blue Jeans.”
Discussing the album with Rolling Stone, Twain explained that the record reflects the journey of an aspiring artist—from being a songwriter with big dreams to chasing success in Nashville and working toward a place at the industry’s table.
