Riley Green Purchases a Guitar Through Facebook Marketplace and Personally Arrives to Pick It Up from the Seller

The country singer purchased a Gibson J-45 through Facebook Marketplace and caught the Florida seller off guard when he personally arrived to collect the guitar.

Riley Green may be making a name for himself as one of country music’s standout stars, but he still apparently enjoys browsing Facebook Marketplace like anyone else.

The “You Look Like You Love Me” singer, 37, recently came across a guitar listed for sale on the platform and decided to buy it. Instead of arranging for someone else to collect the instrument, Green personally coordinated with the seller and showed up to complete the pickup himself.

The instrument was a Gibson J-45, a well-known acoustic guitar celebrated for its full, warm tone and longstanding connection to country, folk and singer-songwriter music. Its previous owner was reportedly reluctant to let it go.

Shane Allen, who owns Front Beach Softwash in Panama City Beach, Florida, later recounted the unexpected encounter on Facebook after selling the guitar to Green. Allen explained that he had posted the Gibson J-45 on Marketplace even though he was unsure about parting with it.

According to Allen, he was caught off guard when he learned that Green was the potential buyer — and even more surprised when the country singer decided to personally meet him.

Allen said that when he arrived at their agreed meeting location, he discovered that the person purchasing his guitar was Green himself. He noted that the singer could easily have sent someone else to handle the transaction but instead chose to meet him personally and take a look at the instrument.

Seeing Green there in person made the sale easier for Allen, who admitted he had been hesitant to give up the guitar.

The Florida seller also expressed hope that Green will put the Gibson to good use and eventually wear it in through plenty of playing. Allen added that the experience has not ended his relationship with the iconic guitar model, saying he expects to own another J-45 someday.
