Reba McEntire Moved to Tears Following Powerful ‘Almost Home’ Performance on The Voice

By Website Content Manager

McEntire drew parallels between Manny Costello’s talent and country greats like Merle Haggard and George Jones.

Manny Costello’s emotional take on Craig Morgan’s “Almost Home” brought Reba McEntire to tears during the season premiere of The Voice blind auditions on Monday night.

The Athens, Georgia, father of two poured his heart into the ballad as his wife and children looked on from backstage with host Carson Daly, visibly moved and wiping away tears. His stirring performance resonated deeply with both McEntire and Snoop Dogg, prompting them to turn their chairs in hopes of adding him to their teams.

Overcome with emotion at the end of the song, McEntire admitted, “Manny, you made me homesick. It reminded me of the legends I was lucky enough to grow up listening to. I hear George Jones, a little Merle Haggard, and even some Randy Travis in your voice — it’s such a special mix. Gosh dang, why am I getting so emotional?”

Luckily, Snoop Dogg stepped in with a box of tissues to comfort McEntire.

“These are happy tears,” McEntire explained. “I just feel so grateful for all the years I’ve had in country music. Your performance brought out emotions I didn’t even know I needed to let out. I’m thankful you’re here, and I’d be honored to have you join my team.”

Snoop then praised Manny’s rich vocal tone, sharing how it stirred memories of collaborating with country icons Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson.

“Your voice takes me back,” he said. “It reminds me of when I was working with Willie and Kris on ‘Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die.’ It gave me that same kind of feeling. Honestly, your sound belongs on this stage.”
