Country music artist Morgan Wallen is donating $1.2 million to upgrade the baseball field at his former high school. The venue was officially renamed Morgan Wallen Field in 2025.
Morgan Wallen is showing support for his former high school by giving back in a major way.
The 32-year-old country artist plans to donate $1.2 million to improve the baseball field at Gibbs High School in Corryton, Tennessee, where he was a student more than ten years ago.
If the Knox County Commission approves the proposal, the funds would help turn the current field into a modern, multi-purpose athletic facility with upgraded features, according to official documents reviewed by PEOPLE.
Wallen previously played on Gibbs High School’s 2010 national championship baseball team, as reported by WATE, and he graduated the following year. In 2025, the school honored him by renaming the field the Morgan Wallen Field.
The plans also include adding a softball hitting and pitching facility on the school campus, according to commission records.
The donation will be made through the Morgan Wallen Foundation, which supports youth sports and music programs as well as community relief efforts. The foundation is funded through a portion of Wallen’s concert ticket sales along with additional public contributions and his own financial support.
Born in Sneedville, Tennessee, Wallen grew up with his parents, Tommy and Lesli Wallen, and his siblings before the family later relocated to nearby Corryton.
He has recently launched his “Still the Problem Tour,” which will take him to cities including Las Vegas, Denver, and Chicago in the coming months.
