Morgan Wallen Begins a New Era With His First Solo Single of 2026, ‘Been By Now’

The track arrives as Wallen’s Still The Problem Tour heads toward its conclusion.

Morgan Wallen is entering a new phase of his career with “Been By Now,” his first solo release of 2026. The Tennessee-born country star previewed the emotional song during his sold-out concert at Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium before releasing the full track on July 24.

Wallen co-wrote “Been By Now” with Charlie Handsome, John Byron, Blake Pendergrass, Rocky Block and Taylor Phillips. Joy Moi handled production on the song, which examines the painful realization that a relationship may no longer be working despite the feelings that remain between two people.

Instead of focusing on a dramatic split, “Been By Now” captures the uncertain period leading up to a breakup. The song portrays a couple gradually noticing the emotional distance between them, struggling with unresolved issues and recognizing that maintaining their relationship has become increasingly difficult.

Wallen’s narrator comes to understand that the work required to keep the relationship together is beginning to overshadow the joy it once brought. Although the pair still appear to care deeply for each other, they are forced to consider whether their love alone can overcome the problems standing between them.

Delivered with Wallen’s recognizable raspy vocals, the track pairs a memorable melody with a melancholy emotional core. Its central idea questions whether a relationship that requires so much effort was ever truly meant to last, adding another reflective dimension to Wallen’s latest musical chapter.
