The song offers another glimpse into Moroney’s full-length album, Cloud 9.

Megan Moroney gives fans a bold preview of her upcoming album Cloud 9 with her newest single, “Wish I Didn’t.” The track combines playful flirtation with a relatable tale of falling for someone she probably shouldn’t, delivered with a confident, fearless attitude.

From the opening lines, Moroney paints a vivid picture of a love interest with a notorious past, surrounded by a trail of “horror stories” from former partners.

“You’ve got a hell of a reputation / So, here I am patiently waiting / For that other shoe, or should I say boot, to drop / I’ve heard all of the horror stories / Your graveyard of girls before me / If you play dirty… Hell hath no fury,” she sings.

While cautiously drawn to his charm, Moroney makes it clear she’s not blind to red flags. If he betrays her like he has others, she warns that her songwriting can be as sharp as a weapon, a playful yet serious nod to the power of words.

Co-written with Emily Weisband, Hillary Lindsey, and Luke Laird, the track explores the tension between temptation and caution, as Moroney navigates the push-and-pull of desire while trying to avoid heartbreak.

The chorus delivers the song’s hook with catchy honesty:

“Don’t make me wish I didn’t / Get dressed up, let you take me out / Wreck your bed, make you all I’m talking about / Consider this a warning / You’ve got one shot to listen / I think I’m falling for ya / Don’t make me wish I didn’t.”

The single is accompanied by a cinematic music video, directed by Lauren Dunn, featuring Moroney alongside reality TV star Dylan Efron. The pair play an ordinary couple whose day-to-day routines quickly give way to chaos, culminating in a dramatic dinner-table fight reminiscent of the Brad Pitt–Angelina Jolie film Mr. & Mrs. Smith. The brawl is interrupted when they realize they’ve been watched all along, leaving the duo exiting the scene with tension and uncertainty.

Fans will also spot playful nods to Moroney’s Cloud 9 era throughout the video, including her signature pink Jeep, the number 9 on her door, and other subtle Easter eggs.

“Wish I Didn’t” is the third track released from Moroney’s upcoming third studio album, Cloud 9, set for release on February 20. It follows the singles “6 Months Later” and “Beautiful Things”, and sets the stage for collaborations with global superstar Ed Sheeran and country star Kacey Musgraves.
