During the show, McRae gushed about the special guest, admitting she is “such a massive fan” of Moroney.
Megan Moroney surprised fans at Tate McRae’s Miss Possessive Tour stop in Nashville on Thursday (Sept. 11), joining the pop star on stage at Bridgestone Arena for a live rendition of her single “6 Months Later.”
Ahead of the performance, McRae hyped the crowd with the announcement. “I’m so excited to bring out a special guest tonight. I’m such a massive fan. Please welcome Megan Moroney,” she said, sparking loud cheers throughout the venue.
Seated on stools, with Moroney strumming her guitar, the pair delivered an acoustic version of the track while the audience sang along word for word. After the show, both artists shared a celebratory photo together on social media, hinting that the night didn’t end once the lights went down.
This marks the second time the two have linked up on stage in Nashville. In 2024, Moroney appeared at McRae’s Ascend Amphitheater concert for a duet of her breakout hit “Tennessee Orange.” Reflecting on that earlier collaboration, McRae admitted, “Oh how I love her.”
Moroney has previously spoken about her bond with McRae, noting that they were “internet friends” before meeting in person, and even expressed interest in co-writing with her one day.
The performance comes on the heels of a major career week for Moroney. On Sunday, she scored a moon person at the MTV VMAs, winning the inaugural Best Country award for her PLATINUM-certified No. 1 single “Am I Okay?” She also showcased her signature Emo Cowgirl style with a stripped-back performance of “6 Months Later” on the Extended Play Stage.
Just 24 hours later, Moroney’s momentum continued as she landed six nominations at the upcoming 59th Annual CMA Awards, tying with Ella Langley and Lainey Wilson as the most-nominated female artists of the year.
