Megan Moroney Debuts Heartfelt Track ‘Beautiful Things,’ Inspired by Her Baby Niece

“I needed to write a song she could listen to during those moments, so she never has to feel sad,” Moroney told her fans.

Megan Moroney has become known for crafting songs that resonate with women, offering both comfort and insight born from personal experience. Her latest unreleased track, Beautiful Things, continues in that vein—but this time, it’s deeply personal, inspired by her young niece and the emotional challenges she may face in the future.

The Georgia-born singer-songwriter debuted the moving song during an acoustic VIP performance ahead of a recent concert. Dressed casually, with her signature rhinestone guitar in hand, Moroney shared the touching backstory behind the song with the small, intimate audience.

She explained that seeing her two-year-old niece often brings up memories of her own heartbreaks—of all the difficult emotions and experiences she’s had to navigate. Hoping to offer some comfort when her niece faces similar pain one day, Moroney felt compelled to write a song just for her.

“I have a little niece who just turned two, and while I adore my nephew, there’s something different about holding this perfect, sweet little girl and realizing how life might hurt her one day,” she said. “I started thinking—what if she doesn’t get invited to a party, or someone breaks her heart? I was like, oh my God, I have to write her a song she can listen to during those times, so she never feels alone or sad,” Moroney told fans.

She then playfully admitted that if she’s this protective over her niece, she’ll likely be “a nightmare of a mom” when she has children of her own. Writing Beautiful Things, she explained, was her way of preparing to one day offer emotional support—not only for her niece but potentially for her future daughter as well.

“If this is how I feel about my niece, I can’t imagine how I’ll be with my own kids,” she said. “So I wrote her this song, so that whenever she needs it as she gets older, it’ll be there for her. It’s called Beautiful Things.”

The track begins with Moroney reflecting on the pain of being excluded, recalling how it felt to discover her friends were at a party without her. In the second verse, she shifts her focus, offering words of comfort and wisdom for when her niece faces her first heartbreak—a feeling Moroney knows all too well.

“You’re pretty and you’re smart / God made a work of art / Girl don’t pick yourself apart / Quit wondering why he did it / Nothing about you needs fixing / It ain’t what you are it’s what he isn’t / Oh I know it don’t feel fair / But oh I can’t count the times I’ve been there,” she sings, delivering a powerful message of self-worth and resilience.
