Maren Morris Shares Her Gratitude as She Embraces First Pride Month Since Coming Out
Maren Morris is embracing a new chapter with appreciation and openness.
The Grammy-winning artist took a moment during her performance at West Hollywood’s OUTLOUD Festival on Friday, May 30, to thank fans for their unwavering support as she celebrates her first Pride Month since publicly identifying as bisexual.
“Thank you to everyone — guys, girls, and everyone beyond the binary — for standing by me,” Morris told the crowd, in a moment captured by fans on TikTok. “I didn’t want it to be a big media moment. I just wanted to share it simply, like it’s no big deal. That’s all anyone really wants — to just be themselves.”
She added, “What I wasn’t expecting, and what meant so much, was how welcoming and kind everyone has been.”
Morris revealed she was bisexual in June 2024, sharing photos of herself with Pride flags during her RSVP Redux Tour stop in Phoenix, writing on Instagram, “happy to be the B in LGBTQ+. happy pride.”
Her commitment to LGBTQ+ advocacy has been consistent throughout her career, using her platform to uplift queer voices and speak out against discrimination.
In a May 2024 interview with The Zoe Report, Morris reflected on her identity, sharing that she had always been attracted to both men and women but had kept it private due to the nature of her past relationships and the environment she lived in.
“Having been in relationships with men for the past 15 years and focusing on my music while living in Nashville, I just never felt brave enough to talk about it,” she said. “But that’s changed.”
Now, Morris feels more empowered and deeply values the connection she’s building with LGBTQ+ fans.
“In the aftermath of a divorce and during this period of self-discovery, having a community around me has been vital,” she said. “Honesty and vulnerability are how you truly find your people.”
Speaking to PEOPLE in August 2024, Morris also revealed that writing her song “Push Me Over” played a key role in helping her feel ready to come out.
“I never felt like I had the strength to say it before, even though it’s something I’ve known about myself for a long time,” she explained. “But this year, the timing just felt right — especially during Pride Month, and in a space where I knew it would be understood clearly.”
