“Fish Hunt Golf Drink” is set to appear on Luke Bryan’s upcoming album Signs.
Luke Bryan is setting the record straight with fans: he does not use artificial intelligence to write his music.
After releasing his newest single, “Fish Hunt Golf Drink,” the country star directly responded to online speculation suggesting the track may have been AI-generated.
Speaking to NBC4 at the Memorial Pro-Am on Wednesday, June 3, the 49-year-old singer said critics and “trolls” had falsely claimed the song was created using AI. He firmly denied the accusations.
Bryan explained that the purpose of the track was simple: to celebrate the things he enjoys in life and have fun with the concept behind it.
When he first previewed the single on social media in May, some users questioned its authenticity, with comments suggesting it sounded like it was made by AI or referencing tools like ChatGPT.
The song was actually written by Nashville songwriters Chase McGill and Matt Dragstrem, who also addressed the controversy in an interview with Rolling Stone. McGill described Bryan as “the least artificial person” he has ever met, emphasizing that his songwriting process is rooted in collaboration and in-person creativity rather than technology.
He added that he finds no creative satisfaction in using AI to generate music, saying that his fulfillment comes from working directly with other writers in the room.
McGill also shared the story behind the song’s inspiration, explaining that it began with a text exchange between Bryan and a friend. In the message, Bryan sent emojis representing fishing, hunting, golfing, and drinking, asking his friend to choose a preferred activity. The idea eventually evolved into the concept for the song.
The songwriter noted that Bryan genuinely embodies the lifestyle described in the track, saying he is skilled at fishing, enjoys time outdoors, plays golf, and is known for his fun-loving personality.
