“I’m going to keep him waiting,” she said.
Since Lainey Wilson accepted former NFL quarterback Devlin “Duck” Hodges’ elaborate proposal back in February, fans have been on the lookout for any wedding updates. However, despite the growing buzz online, Wilson is purposefully taking a slow and thoughtful approach, making it clear she’s not in a hurry to tie the knot.
In a recent interview with Country Living, the country star playfully remarked that Duck might “kill her” because she’s set on making him wait for the wedding — a lighthearted payback for how long he took to propose.
“He made me wait four years,” Lainey Wilson confessed with a laugh. “So now, I’m making him wait before we dive into planning the wedding.”
Wilson emphasized that the slow pace isn’t due to a lack of enthusiasm about marrying Devlin “Duck” Hodges. Rather, she wants the experience to be meaningful and thoughtful, ensuring the celebration reflects their values and what’s truly important.
“We haven’t really made any major moves yet,” she said candidly in an interview with Country Living. “But we’re not in a rush. When it happens, it’ll be exactly what it’s meant to be — beautiful, intentional, and true to us.”
In the meantime, Wilson’s schedule is filled to the brim. The Grammy-winning artist is currently on a nationwide tour running through November and is also hard at work on new music. Her creative momentum never slows — she’s always crafting her next musical chapter.
Even before her current project, Whirlwind, reached fans, she was already putting together her next release. Fans can look forward to a deluxe version of Whirlwind coming in August, with a brand-new full-length album following after that.
“We’ve got the deluxe dropping this August, but I’m also deep into the next full album,” she shared. “My creative gears are always turning — that’s when I feel the most like myself.”
On top of her music career, Lainey Wilson is stepping into the world of acting with her first-ever film role, starring alongside Lauren Graham and Bradley Whitford in Reminders of Him, an adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel set for release in 2026. Though she’s no stranger to the screen — fans will remember her portrayal of Abby in Yellowstone season five — this marks her official entry into the film industry.
In Reminders of Him, Wilson takes on a completely different role that pushes her beyond familiar territory.
“After Yellowstone, where I played a musician, I told my manager I wanted to try something different next,” she explained. “This was the first project that really felt right.”
For the first time, she’s portraying a character who isn’t tied to the music world. Wilson shared that taking on this challenge was a refreshing way to tap into new creative energy.
“It was exciting to put myself in someone else’s shoes and act from a totally different perspective,” she said. “It gave me a new creative outlet, and I had a lot of fun with it. Who knows what’s next, but I could definitely see myself doing more acting in the future.”
