Lainey Wilson Set to Make a Guest Appearance in Season 2 of Netflix’s ‘Leanne’

The country music star portrays Jessie, who is Leanne’s cousin.

Season 2 of Netflix’s comedy series Leanne arrived on August 27, bringing back the show’s familiar cast while also introducing several notable guest stars, including country music favorite Lainey Wilson.

Inspired by Leanne Morgan’s stand-up material and featuring Morgan in the lead role, the sitcom continues to follow her character as she rebuilds her life following the end of her marriage. In the new season, Leanne faces a variety of changes, from renovating her kitchen to stepping into the dating scene after almost three decades of marriage. Through it all, her family continues to be a major part of her journey.

Netflix renewed Leanne for another season following the strong response to its debut in summer 2025. The 10-episode second season features appearances from Jaime Pressly, Ben Foster, Billy Gardell and Wilson. Wilson joins the series as Jessie, Leanne’s cousin, with her appearance scheduled for Episode 9.

Morgan had previously given fans a glimpse of Wilson’s involvement earlier this year when she posted behind-the-scenes images from production. One of the photos featured the country singer alongside Morgan on the set.

“Look who dropped by the set of ‘LEANNE’ season 2!!! 😍 Couldn’t we all be family?? 😝💙,” Morgan wrote at the time.

Morgan returns as the show’s central character, surrounded by several members of Leanne’s on-screen family. That includes her former husband Bill, played by Ryan Stiles; her sister Carol, portrayed by Kristen Johnston; and her parents Mama Margaret and Daddy John, played by Celia Weston and Blake Clark.

The series has quickly established itself as one of Netflix’s notable comedy offerings. Created by Chuck Lorre, Leanne Morgan and showrunner Susan McMartin, the multi-camera sitcom reportedly generated 1.34 billion viewing minutes in the United States during its first two weeks, according to Nielsen. Netflix’s own engagement figures also indicated that the series reached roughly 12 million views during the second half of 2026.

Leanne has also earned recognition from the Television Academy, receiving two Emmy nominations. The series was nominated for Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Program and Outstanding Picture Editing for a Multi-Camera Comedy Series.
