“The country star shared that her goal is for listeners to feel a sense of calm through the five added songs.”
Lainey Wilson Expands Whirlwind With Deluxe Edition
Lainey Wilson has given her GRAMMY-winning album Whirlwind new life with the release of Whirlwind (Deluxe), a project that amplifies the Louisiana native’s trademark storytelling. The expanded version, she explained, is meant to offer listeners “a sense of peace.”
Alongside the original 14 tracks, the deluxe set includes five fresh additions: “Bell Bottoms Up,” “King Ranch, King George, King James,” “Yesterday, All Day, Every Day,” “Peace, Love, and Cowboys,” and the rising hit “Somewhere Over Laredo.”
Wilson admitted she wasn’t ready to close the door on the Whirlwind era, feeling there was more she wanted to share through music.
“When I first wrote Whirlwind, my life was spinning — it felt like constant change and pure chaos,” she told Zane Lowe on Apple Music. “Those songs helped me stay grounded. Once the album was out, I had time to breathe, and more songs started pouring out. Even though they came later, they still belong to the Whirlwind story.”
She added that the new material carries a calmer energy. “Whether it’s ‘Somewhere Over Laredo’ or ‘Peace, Love, and Cowboys,’ some of these songs feel more centered, even a little magical,” Wilson explained. “It’s like stepping into a new chapter, but the storytelling is still at the heart of it. And as a band, we’ve grown with these songs, too.”
Wilson Takes Whirlwind Global
Fans will experience that same evolution on Wilson’s Whirlwind World Tour, which kicked off with a sold-out opening night in Phoenix, Arizona.
“I might be biased, but I feel like we’ve leveled up,” Wilson told Zane Lowe. “This tour isn’t just a step forward — it’s a giant leap. And I’ve got a crew that’s absolutely unstoppable.”
The setlist spans her career highlights, from Bell Bottom Country favorites like “Heart Like a Truck” and “Watermelon Moonshine” to smash hits such as “4x4xU.” She also weaves in new standouts from Whirlwind (Deluxe), including “Somewhere Over Laredo” and “Peace, Love, and Cowboys.”
The tour follows a monumental year for Wilson, who dominated the 60th ACM Awards with four wins: her second straight Entertainer of the Year honor, a third Female Artist of the Year title, plus Album of the Year (Whirlwind) and Artist-Songwriter of the Year.
