Lainey Wilson and Miranda Lambert co-wrote the new track “Good Horses” with songwriter Luke Dick. The song will be featured on Wilson’s upcoming album Whirlwind.

Lainey Wilson’s upcoming album Whirlwind is set to offer a soothing touch, with a new track showcasing a special collaboration. On August 2, the 32-year-old singer-songwriter released “Good Horses,” a song featuring Miranda Lambert, age 40.

Co-written by Wilson, Lambert, and Luke Dick, and produced by Jay Joyce, the track explores the theme of love always finding its way home, using imagery of roaming horses. The lyrics include lines like, “I don’t need a map, I don’t need a road / I don’t need a fence, I just need to roam / If you wanna love me, you don’t need a rope / You just need to know / Good horses come home.”

The song has a slow-burn quality with its acoustic guitar and layered harmonies from the country stars. They even performed a stripped-down version on Instagram, with Wilson sharing it under the caption, “Good horses come home🐴.”

Lainey Wilson expressed her excitement about the release of “Good Horses,” saying, “I am so excited for everyone to finally be able to have their hands on this song. Writing with Miranda and Luke feels like home, and I will forever cherish the day we wrote this song. ‘Good Horses’ is all about finding your way back home, no matter where you are.”

Miranda Lambert shared her thoughts as well, stating, “‘Good Horses’ is about all the people that love the comfort of home, but also need to be free. Lainey and I wrote this song at my farm with Luke Dick. Lainey is a genuine and authentic human. I love watching her dreams come true right in front of our eyes, and it’s so cool to be a little part of it.”

“Good Horses” is the fourth track to be released from Wilson’s forthcoming album Whirlwind, and it is the first collaboration to be shared from the LP. This album will be Wilson’s first since 2022’s Bell Bottom Country.

Ahead of her album release, Lainey Wilson has shared several tracks from Whirlwind, including “4x4xU,” “Hang Tight Honey,” and “Country’s Cool Again.” Beyond her new music, Wilson has had a remarkable year: she won the entertainer of the year award at the ACMs in May, was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in June, and even performed with the Rolling Stones in Chicago that same month.

Wilson, who publicly shared her relationship with former NFL player Devlin Hodges last year, recently spoke with PEOPLE at the Twisters film premiere in Los Angeles. She discussed the challenge of balancing personal relationships with her career, particularly as a female country artist.

She noted, “The truth is, as a female in country music, you gotta make dang sure that you are tending to business, and you’re out there whooping ass, and nothing is a distraction. And people sometimes can view that, if you have a boyfriend, at times, they’re like, ‘Well, she’s gonna get married and have babies.’ ”

Wilson countered this perspective, saying, “And, that’s a point of view. But I’m like, guess what? We can do it all.”
