Keith Urban is embracing significant changes in 2025, introducing a new tour, fresh music, and a restructured band lineup.

“I’ve consistently listened to that inner guide that tells me when it’s time to bring about a change in any aspect of my life…”

Keith Urban has made 2025 a year of new beginnings, featuring a fresh tour, new music, updated production, and some new members in his band. In January, it was announced that he chose to part ways with three of his bandmates. Now, Urban is sharing his thoughts on the reasons behind this significant shift in his touring group.

Among the musicians who have ended their collaboration with the “Straight Line” singer are GRAMMY-nominated drummer Terence F. Clark, lead guitarist, backup singer, and keyboardist Nathan Barlowe, as well as Jerry Flowers, who served as the guitar player and band leader for over 25 years.

Although saying goodbye was a bittersweet experience for Urban, he believes his instincts guided him to make the change.

“It feels really good. I’ve always trusted that inner voice that tells me when it’s time to make a change in any part of my life and just take the leap,” he shared with Country Now and other media outlets.

He acknowledges that, similar to performing live on stage, he doesn’t always know what his decisions will lead to, but he’s ready to take the plunge and see where it goes.

“I don’t always know what comes next. There’s something exciting about living and performing that way. We’ve been really fortunate with this band,” Urban added.

The Australian singer-songwriter and his new band have already started to hit their stride on stage, performing together for the first time during Urban’s five-show stint in Las Vegas this past February. These performances essentially served as their “rehearsals” before embarking on his first full headline tour in three years.

“I’m really excited to hit the road with the new band, new songs, new production, and everything else,” he emphasized.

When announcing their departures from the band on social media, Flowers, Clark, and Barlowe each took a moment to express gratitude to Keith Urban for their time together on stage and shared optimism for the future opportunities ahead.

For someone so deeply driven by the energy of live performances, three years away from touring is a significant break. However, Urban explains that the time off was necessary for him to focus on creating his latest album, HIGH. He’s now so eager to return to the road that he feels like “a racehorse just sort of at the starting gate, just kicking at the stalls, trying to get out.”

Named after his 11th studio album, the High and Alive World Tour is set to begin on May 22 in Orange Beach, AL, and will run through October 17, wrapping up with a performance at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.

Afterward, the tour will head to Australia, starting August 13, with stops in Brisbane, Wollongong, Melbourne, Sydney, and Adelaide. Chase Matthew, Alana Springsteen, and Karley Scott Collins will join as support for select dates.
