The upcoming tour promises an all-new production and a setlist packed with energetic hits.
Keith Urban is gearing up for his first full tour in almost three years, and his excitement is undeniable. Describing himself as a racehorse itching to break free, he’s ready to hit stages across the U.S., Canada, and Australia in 2025.
Keith Urban recently shared that he feels like a racehorse eagerly waiting at the starting gate, restless and ready to take off. He described himself as seeing the track ahead and just wanting to go.
For Urban, a three-year break from touring is unusually long, particularly since performing live is such a huge part of his life. Typically accustomed to hitting the road every couple of years, he’s especially eager to reconnect with his fans this year. The extended break happened because he initially planned to tour for an album called 615, which was eventually scrapped and replaced with HIGH. While the delay was frustrating at first, Urban now acknowledges that stepping back allowed him to craft music and a live performance he’s genuinely excited to share.
Urban revealed that his original plan was to tour last year, but those plans changed when he decided to scrap one album and instead create High. While this shift delayed his tour by a year, he’s content with the outcome since he’s much happier with the new album — especially the energetic, upbeat tracks like “Straight Line,” “Chuck Taylors,” “Laughin’ All the Way To The Drank,” and “Wildside.” He’s particularly excited to perform these lively songs during outdoor summer shows, which he describes as his favorite vibe.
Looking back on the difficulties of releasing music during the pandemic, Urban reflected on how deeply he values connecting with his music and fans.
“During COVID, releasing an album without touring was tough,” he shared. “But I realized it’s more than just me as an artist — I missed not only performing those songs live but also the experience of exploring their full potential. The recorded version is only one interpretation, and being on stage allows me to expand, refine, and uncover new dimensions of each track.”
Urban had a special chance to fine-tune his upcoming tour by experimenting with new production elements and setlists during his Las Vegas residency. Held at the Fontainebleau, the Australian singer and songwriter performed a series of 10 exclusive shows that kicked off in October and extended into additional performances scheduled for February 2025.
Urban shared that performing these shows ahead of his major world tour provided a rare opportunity to rehearse in front of a smaller live audience each night—something most artists don’t typically get to experience before embarking on a large-scale tour.
The High and Alive World Tour is set to feature enhanced production elements, including dynamic video walls designed to “move and do cool things” during his performances.
“We incorporated this production into our Vegas residency,” Urban explained. “We’ve never had the chance before to test our setup in a different setting before taking it on the road. Everything we used at the Fontainebleau for our residency is the same production we’re bringing on tour this time.”
