In January, a tragic incident occurred at Antioch High School when a student opened fire in the cafeteria, injuring two classmates before taking his own life.
Following a devastating school shooting, Jelly Roll returned to his alma mater to offer support.
The country star visited Antioch High School in Tennessee on Feb. 25, more than a month after a student shot two classmates before turning the gun on himself. The tragic event resulted in two fatalities and two additional injuries, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.
Metro Nashville Public Schools shared photos from his visit in a Feb. 26 Instagram post, writing, “Music superstar @jellyroll615 visited @antiochbearshome on Tuesday to talk to students and staff about the tragedy that took place there last month.”
The caption went on to express gratitude, stating, “Thank you, Jelly Roll, for reaching out to the Antioch community and offering some comfort during a difficult time. We appreciate your support!”
According to Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) spokesperson Don Aaron, the shooting occurred at 11:09 a.m. when a 17-year-old male student opened fire in the school cafeteria, striking two classmates. One of the victims, a 16-year-old female, later passed away at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
MNPD later identified the deceased student as Josselin Corea Escalante in a post on X. The shooter, identified as Solomon Henderson, then turned the gun on himself.
The other injured student suffered a bullet graze to his arm, while another male student was also treated at Vanderbilt for a facial injury, though it was not believed to be caused by gunfire.
This wasn’t Jelly Roll’s first return to Antioch High School. In May 2024, he visited the school and reflected on his past in a video shared on TikTok by his wife, Bunnie Xo. She revealed that during his time as a student, he was once told he would “never be allowed back.”
“They told my husband he would never be allowed back into his high school when he was younger,” Bunnie wrote about the “Need a Favor” singer, who has been arrested around 40 times for various drug-related offenses, with his first arrest at just 14 years old.
“Last week, I got to watch him walk the halls again, perform, and be welcomed by the kids and teachers,” Bunnie shared. “The love and giving back that they showed my husband was the sweetest thing ever to watch.”
