“I used to think reaching 30 was a big deal… and now here we are with 31 number-one hits,” he said.

Jason Aldean has added another major milestone to his career. The country music star achieved his 31st No. 1 hit on country radio with his heartfelt single, “How Far Does A Goodbye Go,” which has reached the top of both the Billboard and Country Aircheck/Mediabase charts.

The Georgia-born singer now joins country legends such as George Strait, Alan Jackson, and Luke Bryan, tying for fourth place in terms of the most chart-topping singles on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart since its inception in 1990.

This latest achievement comes less than a year after Aldean celebrated his 30th No. 1 hit with “Whiskey Drink.” Reflecting on his new milestone, he shared a mix of surprise and gratitude.

“I thought 30 was a big deal… and now we’re at 31 number-one songs. That’s pretty incredible. Huge thanks to country radio, my team, streaming partners, the songwriters, and everyone who’s listened and helped turn these songs into something bigger than we imagined,” Aldean said.

Over the past two decades, Aldean has built an impressive career that includes 13 Top 10 country albums, 31 No. 1 radio hits, and a SoundExchange Hall of Fame Award, recognizing him as one of the most-streamed artists ever. With more music on the horizon, Aldean continues to solidify his status as a leading force in country music.

“How Far Does A Goodbye Go” is the first single from Aldean’s upcoming album Songs About Us, set for release on April 24. Written by John Morgan, John Edwards, Kurt Allison, and Tully Kennedy, the song portrays the sudden heartbreak a man experiences when his partner leaves, leaving him alone to wrestle with his emotions.

The track’s story follows a man whose partner departs to her mother’s house to take a break, despite promising they would work things out. After “four days and three nights,” he’s left with just a bottle, cigarettes, and his thoughts, questioning whether their separation is temporary or permanent.

The chorus vividly captures his uncertainty:

“How far does a goodbye go / Is it down to a corner bar / Or outta town in a getaway car / If it’s on a map this cowboy’s gotta know / Is it a couple miles away comin’ up the road or on a midnight train on a runaway track / How far does a goodbye go / Till it don’t come back.”

Aldean stars alongside his wife, Brittany, in a compelling music video that dramatizes the song’s emotional narrative.
