Gabby Barrett Brings Breakup Anthem “The Easy Part” to Life in Emotional New Video
Gabby Barrett has released a striking new music video for her breakup track The Easy Part. Directed by Quentin Cook, the video opens with a couple in the midst of an intense argument at home. The man storms out, leaving the woman standing at the doorway, reflecting on the fight and the happier times they shared.
Performance shots of Barrett are interspersed throughout, heightening the emotional impact. As the story reaches its climax, a storm rolls in, with rain pouring around Barrett and outside the woman’s window, visually emphasizing the turmoil of the breakup.
With the passage of time, a new day dawns. The woman eventually leaves the home where so many memories were made, only to unexpectedly encounter her ex at a four-way stop. In a final twist, it becomes clear that the man has moved on, now accompanied by a new partner in his truck.
The video follows the narrative of the song, as Barrett sings:
“Go on and slam that front door / Go on and tell me where I can go / Put that pedal to the floorboard / Leave me a mess in the middle of the road / Go all Jack D crazy / Tell yourself leavin’ me is so hard / But I got news for you baby / That’ll be the easy part.”
Co-written by Barrett alongside Michael Hardy, Zach Abend, and Jon Nite, and produced by Zach Kale, Zach Abend, and Ross Copperman, The Easy Part has gained steady traction since its release, receiving strong rotation on SiriusXM’s country channels.
Barrett explained the concept behind the song: “‘The Easy Part’ explores how the dramatic moment in a relationship often feels like the hardest part, but it’s what comes after that leaves a lasting impression. The song reflects on both the good and complicated memories, and the video shows the protagonist looking back, ultimately finding peace and moving forward.”
