The country star’s chart-topping song has reached 23 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100, overtaking Mariah Carey’s previous record with “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”
Ella Langley is still trying to process the magnitude of her latest career milestone.
The 27-year-old country singer has officially made chart history with “Choosin’ Texas.” The track has now remained at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for 23 weeks, moving past Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which previously held the record with 22 weeks at the top.
For Langley, the achievement was difficult to put into words.
In an Instagram video posted Sept. 22 following the announcement, the singer admitted that she was struggling to describe exactly how she felt about the record. She expressed her disbelief and repeatedly thanked the fans who helped the song reach such an extraordinary milestone.
“Choosin’ Texas” was written by Langley alongside Miranda Lambert, Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor. Released in October 2025, the song became the lead single from Langley’s album Dandelion. It marked her first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has now established itself as the longest-running No. 1 hit in the chart’s history.
As she attempted to explain her reaction, Langley acknowledged that she was running out of ways to describe the significance of what had happened.
The emotional moment was even accompanied by some unexpected background noise. One of Langley’s dogs could be heard barking during the video, prompting the singer to joke that her pet could demonstrate just how exciting the news was.
Langley also reflected on how the success has affected the people closest to her. She said the song’s historic run has had an impact not only on her own career but also on the songwriters involved, her family and the future opportunities she hopes to pursue.
Despite knowing the record was real, Langley said the achievement still felt surreal. She compared the experience to waiting for someone to reveal that the entire announcement had been an elaborate joke.
Rather than spending too much time questioning the reality of the accomplishment, Langley planned to celebrate. She said she was looking forward to going out that evening and enjoying what she described as a once-in-a-lifetime moment.
For the country singer, “Choosin’ Texas” has clearly become much more than another successful single. Its historic Billboard run has created a milestone she is still learning how to fully comprehend.
