The beloved children’s music group also put a fresh spin on Parton’s classic 9 to 5, transforming it into an educational tune titled Counting 1 to 5 for their upcoming country album.
Dolly Parton and The Wiggles are proving that friendship never goes out of style.
The country legend teamed up with the beloved children’s music group for the uplifting new song Friends!, which debuted alongside a music video on Feb. 21. The heartfelt track will also be featured on The Wiggles’ upcoming album, Wiggle Up, Giddy Up!
Friends! is a midtempo country tune that celebrates the value of strong, supportive friendships. “Everyone needs one / Be my friend,” Parton and The Wiggles sing in the chorus, delivering a message of kindness and connection.
The collaboration debuted on the same day as The Wiggles’ reimagined take on Dolly Parton’s classic 9 to 5, transformed into the educational tune Counting 1 to 5.
Parton’s influence on Wiggle Up, Giddy Up! doesn’t stop there—the album will also include another duet with her, We Will Always Be Friends, along with a cover of her song Love Is Like a Butterfly.
As for how the Jolene legend teamed up with The Wiggles, Parton shared in a statement, “Well, I just wiggled my way out into the Wiggles’ world!”
“I had so much fun being a part of this project, and I hope you enjoy it as much as we have,” Parton shared.
Anthony Field, the original Blue Wiggle, praised Parton’s music as “pure magic” in a statement. “Getting to work with her on these songs is a dream come true. We can’t wait for families everywhere to sing along and share in the joy,” he said.
Caterina Mete, who became the Red Wiggle in 2022, has been a longtime fan of Parton. She even has a tattoo dedicated to the Here You Come Again singer and named one of her daughters Dolly.
“Getting to work with my absolute musical hero is beyond surreal,” Mete shared. “Dolly has inspired me in so many ways, and I know these songs will bring so much happiness to families everywhere.”
Wiggle Up, Giddy Up! is set for release on March 7 and will include collaborations with a star-studded lineup, including Lainey Wilson, Orville Peck, Dasha, Morgan Evans, Jackson Dean, Kaylee Bell, MacKenzie Porter, Troy Cassar-Daley, the Wolfe Brothers, Travis Collins, Lucky Oceans, and the late Slim Dusty.
The current lineup of The Wiggles features Anthony Field, Caterina Mete, Lachlan Gillespie, Simon Pryce, Tsehay Hawkins, Evie Ferris, John Pearce, and Lucia Field.
