The singer, who recently launched his international tour, had to cut his July 12 performance in Atlantic City, N.J. short after only a few songs.

Darius Rucker Apologizes to Fans, Issues Full Refunds After Ending Atlantic City Show Mid-Performance

Darius Rucker is making sure his fans are taken care of after an unexpected onstage moment.

The Grammy-winning artist was forced to end his Saturday, July 12 concert at the Hard Rock Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, after losing his voice just a few songs into the set. Though he tried to power through, Rucker, 59, eventually realized he couldn’t continue.

“Y’all, I can’t sing anymore,” he told the crowd, according to fan footage shared by Philly Burbs. “This has never happened to me before. I physically can’t do it — but I swear to you, I’ll make this up to you.”

Before stepping offstage, Rucker managed to finish a performance of his fan-favorite hit “Wagon Wheel,” then called the night short.

The following day, on Sunday, July 13, Rucker took to Instagram Stories to express his regret. “I feel terrible, and I’m truly sorry — this is the first time I’ve ever lost my voice in all the years I’ve been performing,” he wrote.

He went on to explain that his team explored rescheduling options but couldn’t find a workable date. “Since we’re unable to make it happen this year, we’re issuing full refunds to everyone who attended,” he added. “Thanks for all the kind messages — love you all, and I’ll see you soon!”

The abrupt cancellation comes just days after Rucker launched the first leg of his international tour, which began in Maryland on July 10. He’s scheduled to perform next in Hollywood and Tampa, Florida, on July 19 and 20.

The tour will continue across the U.S. before heading overseas to the U.K. in late September and early October. He’ll then return for more North American dates before wrapping up the run with a final show in Naples, Florida, on December 13.

In addition to his tour, Rucker is gearing up for new music. “I’m working on finishing my album, and the single should be dropping soon,” he shared. “It feels fresh and different — I think my fans are going to be really excited about what’s coming.”
