“The recovery will take several weeks, and I won’t be able to sing during that period,” the country singer shared in a post on Instagram.
Cody Johnson is putting his health first.
On Tuesday, Oct. 8, the “Half a Song” singer announced that he is canceling all remaining performances for the year as he prepares to undergo surgery for a ruptured eardrum.
“It’s with a very heavy heart that I have to share the remainder of this year’s concert performances will not be able to happen,” the 38-year-old country star wrote on Instagram. “While battling a severe upper respiratory and sinus infection, I burst my eardrum. The severity of the rupture means I must undergo immediate surgery.”
Johnson explained that recovery will take time, adding, “The healing process will take many weeks, and it’s not possible for me to sing during this period. Without the surgery, my downtime could be months.”
He concluded his post with gratitude toward fans, saying, “I’m praying for complete healing so I can get well and return to doing what I love. Thank you, COJO Nation, for the love and support—now and always.”
In his announcement, Cody Johnson also asked fans to “stay tuned for an email from your ticket providers for further details.”
The “Dirt Cheap” singer had six remaining tour dates scheduled for 2025, which have now been canceled. Johnson plans to return to the stage in February 2026, with performances booked through July.
This isn’t the first time the country star has had to postpone shows due to health issues. Back in September, Johnson delayed his concerts in Columbus, Ohio, after waking up with no voice.
“I woke up without a singing voice — severe cough, burning chest and throat,” he explained at the time on Instagram. “I’m so sorry for the disappointment and inconvenience. I love all of you and truly appreciate your understanding and loyalty. I hate letting you down, but the last thing I want is for y’all to spend your money and time on a show that doesn’t represent me at my best.”
He reassured fans that his team was working to reschedule the Ohio shows for 2026.
In November 2023, Johnson released his studio album Leather, followed by a deluxe edition a year later in November 2024. Most recently, on Sept. 29, the “’Til You Can’t” hitmaker appeared to tease new music in the works when he posted a photo from the recording studio with the caption, “Been working on something for y’all…”
Outside of music, Johnson and his wife Brandi are also celebrating a major personal milestone. During the 2025 Academy of Country Music Awards in May, the singer shared exciting news — the couple are expecting their third child.
“We’re having a little boy!” Johnson told PEOPLE exclusively at the time. “We decided to make this our announcement to the world and our gender reveal as well.”
