Carrie Underwood Surprised as Brad Paisley Brings Luke Bryan Into Hilarious ‘American Idol’ Prank

The standout moment of the ‘Idol’ premiere was Paisley’s unexpected arrival to prank the judges.

Country music fans got an unexpected surprise during Monday’s American Idol premiere when Brad Paisley made a special appearance to pull off an elaborate prank.

Paisley arrived backstage without Carrie Underwood or Lionel Richie knowing, enlisting Luke Bryan as his co-conspirator. Bryan left the judges’ panel under the guise of a bathroom break, only to meet with Paisley and producers to plot their scheme. Their plan involved introducing Dylan Holmes as a planted “contestant” while feeding Bryan lines through an earpiece.

Once Bryan returned to the panel, he immediately began questioning Underwood’s workout routine, asking how much she could bench press, following Paisley’s instructions. When Holmes began singing, Bryan abruptly yelled, “PASS!”

Paisley encouraged him to go further, prompting Bryan to mock Holmes’ home state with comments like, “I can’t stand Michigan,” and later taking a playful jab at Illinois.

Throughout the prank, Underwood seemed completely in the dark, joking that Bryan must have enjoyed a little “liquid courage” during his break.

Finally, Bryan said the safe word—“hot chicken”—and Paisley stepped out, revealing the setup.

Underwood laughed, noting that she didn’t suspect a thing and that Bryan’s odd comments weren’t entirely out of character.

Fans loved the prank, taking to social media to react. “Loved this. Love seeing Brad on the show. Brad and Carrie are an iconic country duo,” one viewer tweeted.
