“I owe it all to the fans…”
Carrie Underwood has officially made history, becoming the most RIAA-certified female country artist of all time.
The eight-time GRAMMY winner earned the record with more than 95 million certified units in the U.S. alone — including 22.5 million albums and 72.5 million singles across both her solo work and collaborations.
To commemorate the milestone, MCA executives Robert Femia (COO & EVP, Business & Legal Affairs), Jackie Jones (SVP, Artist & Industry Relations, RIAA), Mike Harris (President & CEO), Katie McCartney (EVP / General Manager), and Stephanie Wright (EVP / Head of A&R) presented Underwood with a special plaque following her recent Grand Ole Opry performance.
The American Idol alum and current Idol judge expressed heartfelt gratitude to her supporters.
“Accomplishments like this are more than I ever dreamed of when I was just starting out,” Underwood said in a statement. “I owe it all to the fans who’ve been with me since day one — voting for me, cheering me on, and showing love for over 20 years. I’m so thankful and blessed.”
MCA President & CEO Mike Harris praised Underwood’s achievement, calling it “a testament to her remarkable bond with fans and the lasting impact of her artistry,” and noting that this milestone “cements her status as a generational talent and true powerhouse in country music.”
Among Underwood’s most notable RIAA-certified projects are her 9x Platinum debut album Some Hearts and hit singles such as “Before He Cheats” (11x Platinum), “Blown Away” (5x Platinum), “Cowboy Casanova” (4x Platinum), “All-American Girl” (3x Platinum), and “Church Bells” (3x Platinum). She’s also achieved Platinum and multi-Platinum certifications for collaborations, including her recent Platinum-certified duet “I’m Gonna Love You” with Cody Johnson.
Her holiday song “Favorite Time of Year,” featured on the My Gift (Special Edition) album from 2021, has also been certified Gold.
Throughout her career, Underwood has amassed over 100 major awards, including 8 GRAMMYs, 16 ACM Awards (with three Entertainer of the Year wins), 25 CMT Music Awards, 17 American Music Awards, 10 People’s Choice Awards, and 7 CMA Awards.
With 29 No. 1 singles and all 10 of her albums debuting in the Billboard Top 10, Underwood continues to solidify her place as one of the most successful and influential artists in country music history.
