On August 7, Pearce took the stage at Spotify’s Year of the Cowgirl event, marking the debut of a new platform for country music enthusiasts.
Months after the release of her latest album, Hummingbird, Carly Pearce is savoring the experience.
In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Pearce discussed the significance of Spotify’s new Year of the Cowgirl platform, reflecting on the influence of female country artists in the genre, her upcoming tour, and the simple pleasures in life.
Pearce, 34, shared her thoughts on Hummingbird, stating, “It feels amazing to see people grow with me during this period. I dedicated a lot of time to this album, aiming to convey that you can overcome any challenge if you believe in yourself and persist. I think people have really connected with that message.”
She also mentioned feeling “at peace with knowing who I am and what’s important to me,” emphasizing her current state of contentment.
Carly Pearce acknowledges that her journey was challenging, noting it required “a lot of life experience, introspection, therapy, and effort to pull myself out of the situations I was in.”
On August 7, Pearce performed at Spotify’s Year of the Cowgirl event, which also featured Brandi Cyrus’s DJ set and Carter Faith’s performance. Discussing the influence of women in country music, Pearce highlighted that fans are seeking to feel “empowered” and “understood.”
She explains, “The stories many female country artists tell resonate deeply, making listeners feel connected and capable of achieving anything, which is significant regardless of age.”
The Year of the Cowgirl platform will provide country music enthusiasts with a comprehensive resource for their favorite female artists, including playlists, podcasts, and audiobooks.
Looking ahead, Pearce is set to launch her Hummingbird world tour on October 3 in Windsor, Ontario. The tour will span major cities across North America, Europe, and the UK, totaling over 40 dates before concluding in Nashville. She will be joined by Karley Scott Collins, Matt Lang, Wade Bowen, and Faith on selected dates.
Pearce describes this tour as her most ambitious yet, emphasizing her focus on evolving as an artist and delivering an impressive show. “There’s so much music and many milestones from the past five years that I’m excited to celebrate on a larger scale than ever before,” she adds.
Carly Pearce’s essential items for her tour include “red wine, a good pair of running shoes, plenty of lip gloss, and my Shih Tzus, Johnny and June.”
She explains, “Having my dogs helps me feel at home and connected to my happy place. I try to bring elements from home to maintain a sense of normalcy, like cooking on the bus, displaying photos, and having cozy bedding. These small comforts help make the tour feel less isolating.”
On August 2, Pearce made news when she briefly halted her performance at We Fest in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, to address an attendee who was being “mean” and disrespectful. Reflecting on the incident, she asserts that people should be held accountable for their behavior.
“You can’t be unkind and expect others to accept it,” she says. “Women, in particular, are often expected to just accept such treatment, and I want to challenge that notion. We deserve to stand up for ourselves. I hope people become kinder and more thoughtful in their interactions.”
