The set included a mix of fan-favorite songs, fresh new material, and a surprise appearance from a special guest.
Brad Paisley surprised concertgoers on Monday evening with an unannounced performance at the weekly Whiskey Jam, delivering a 45-minute set at Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row on Nashville’s Broadway.
Since launching in 2011, Whiskey Jam has grown into one of Nashville’s most popular free live music events, giving emerging artists a platform to perform. While the series primarily spotlights up-and-coming talent, fans are occasionally treated to surprise appearances from established stars—and that’s exactly what happened when Brad Paisley took the stage.
Paisley’s unexpected performance sparked enthusiastic sing-alongs as he treated the crowd to several of his biggest hits. He also marked the release of his newly unveiled project, Tacklebox – Disc 1, by sharing music from the collection.
One of the evening’s highlights came when Paisley invited fellow country singer-songwriter David Lee Murphy to join him. Together, they performed their new collaboration, “Hi Ho Silverado,” which they co-wrote with Clint Lagerberg, before keeping the momentum going with Murphy’s classic 1994 hit, “Dust on the Bottle.”
The surprise appearance came just days after Tacklebox – Disc 1 arrived, making the Whiskey Jam performance a fitting way to celebrate the album’s debut with fans.
Paisley has described the 13-track release as a collection built around memorable country hooks, an idea that inspired the album’s title. The project blends long-forgotten songs from earlier in his songwriting career—many of which had never been officially recorded—with brand-new material influenced by the same traditional country sound.
Throughout the record, Paisley draws inspiration from legendary artists such as Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, and Alabama, while also incorporating production styles reminiscent of icons like George Strait and Garth Brooks.
Reflecting on the album, Paisley explained that having access to every song he has ever written allowed him to revisit older material with fresh perspective. He said the goal was to capture the nostalgia of a different era of country music and create a listening experience that encourages fans to enjoy the album from beginning to end, much like playing a vinyl record or CD straight through.
