The new track arrives just before the release of his upcoming collaborative album, produced by his son, Braison Cyrus.
Billy Ray Cyrus is encouraging fans to embrace the idea of asking for help.
The 63-year-old Hannah Montana star dropped a remix of his song “ASK” on Friday, April 25, featuring Grammy-winning guitarist Micki Free and country artist Ben Burgess. The track focuses on seeking guidance from a higher power during challenging times. The original version of the song was released in March.
Ahead of the remix’s release, Billy Ray shared his thoughts on Instagram on Tuesday, April 22, emphasizing that “ASK” is “not just a remix.” He explained, “It’s actually the way the song was written to fit in my lyrics in this unique interpretation of healing ❤️🩹 and pure blues rock and soul that @official_mickifree brings to the song.”
He added, “I think everyone may get a clearer understanding of what this song is about—the healing ❤️🩹 love and deep respect for the fact that in life, sometimes we all get lost… but finding your way back is always the tricky part! Just remember, life is a series of adjustments.”
The uplifting message in the blues-rock track encourages listeners to persevere, even when they feel directionless.
In the chorus, Billy Ray sings, “It’s a long and winding road / It happens fast, so take it slow / You gon’ get there before you know / So, if you’re lost just ask.” He continues, “You know the future ain’t past / Buckle up and hit the gas / Won’t get there looking back / If you’re lost just ask.”
Next up for the two-time Grammy winner is a new album, set for release this summer, which is produced by his son, Braison Cyrus.
In a statement when the project was first revealed, Braison, 30, shared, “I’ve spent this past year getting to know my dad better than I ever have.” He added, “I’ve heard stories, jokes, and songs that I don’t think anyone else has. It’s an opportunity to tell my dad’s story through music, and I’m fortunate to be able to take it. Music, stories, and family are the most important things to my dad, so bringing the two together is a full-circle endeavor.”
“I’m incredibly proud to dive into the music with Braison,” Billy Ray shared. “This is art imitating life, imitating art. It starts and ends with art.”
He continued, “Braison is extremely talented, and 25 is his year. I’m honored to be a part of it. This record is going to be something special. I’m getting ready for what will be the journey of a lifetime.”
