Firerose filed a court document on June 14, alleging that her ex subjected her to severe verbal, emotional, and psychological mistreatment.
Billy Ray Cyrus has alleged that he was abused by his estranged wife Firerose. According to new court documents filed in Tennessee on Monday, June 24 and obtained by PEOPLE, the 62-year-old “Achy Breaky Heart” singer claims he endured physical, verbal, and emotional abuse from his ex-wife. He vehemently denies her allegations, which he describes as “mind-boggling,” that he was abusive toward her.
The documents state, “While the Plaintiff would acknowledge that he was certainly vocal, frustrated, and angry with the Defendant in May 2024, it is the plaintiff who, in fact, has been abused. Not only verbally and emotionally by the Defendant, but PHYSICALLY abused by Defendant.”
In an affidavit, Scott Adkins, Billy Ray Cyrus’ manager, stated that he witnessed abuse directed towards Cyrus. Cyrus refuted allegations made by the Australian musician, including a note she purportedly left him after leaving their shared residence before marriage, which read “I am so sorry” and “Please give me a chance to make this right. I can explain everything but I need you on my side.”
In response to Firerose’s accusations, the country star claimed that when he questioned her about her unfamiliar last name, she threatened to ruin his career by falsely stating he wanted to divorce her because she required a double mastectomy.
Cyrus also asserted that Firerose had known about being a carrier of the BRCA1 gene mutation, which increases the risk of breast cancer, for four years before their marriage, but he was only informed after they were married.
An unnamed representative for Firerose has dismissed Billy Ray Cyrus’ claims as false, suggesting that those supporting him are questionable due to being on his payroll. They criticized Cyrus for questioning Firerose’s decision to undergo preventive surgery as indicative of the manipulation she allegedly endured.
According to documents filed on July 14, Firerose, aged 36, stated that Cyrus filed for divorce in May, just one day before her scheduled preventive double mastectomy. She revealed she was diagnosed with the BRCA1 gene mutation in early 2020, with doctors strongly recommending the surgery in March. The first surgery was scheduled for May 24.
In her complaint, Firerose described her home life leading up to the surgery as chaotic, alleging that Cyrus subjected her to continuous verbal assaults, threatened to evict her, and filed for divorce, creating what she called an emotional and psychological prison. She claimed Cyrus frequently called her derogatory names and accused her of using him.
The divorce filing on May 23 came after nearly seven months of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct as reasons for the split.
In addition to filing for divorce and requesting an annulment on grounds of fraud, Billy Ray Cyrus also sought an emergency motion on June 13 for a temporary restraining order to prevent Firerose from accessing his personal and business credit cards and accounts. He alleged that she had made nearly $100,000 in unauthorized purchases after their separation.
In response, Firerose denied the allegations of inappropriate conduct and stated that she felt unsafe living with Cyrus. She countered that there was no emergency regarding the credit card access, asserting that she had been authorized to use his credit card for the past two years. Her attorneys disputed the claim of unauthorized charges, stating that Cyrus had no right to cut off her access to the funds.
