The blind auditions wrapped up on March 3.

Adam Levine finally added a country artist to his team!

During The Voice blind auditions on Monday, March 3, Levine was the last coach with an open spot—and he used it to welcome 17-year-old country singer Trevon Dawson.

Dawson took the stage with a performance of Bailey Zimmerman’s Religiously, prompting coach Kelsea Ballerini to urge Levine to turn his chair.

Levine, 45, ultimately made the move, and after the performance, coach Michael Bublé excitedly ran over to give Dawson a hug.

“If that’s how you sound when you’re a little nervous, this guy just landed a huge win,” Bublé, 49, said of Levine.

“Jackpot!” Kelsea Ballerini, 31, chimed in.

Dawson then brought his mother, father, and sister onstage to celebrate the moment. Meanwhile, Michael Bublé expressed his mixed emotions, saying, “I’m so happy for you and so miserable for me.”

“All I have to say is, ‘Damn you, Adam,'” the Home singer jokingly added.

John Legend—who had already completed his team earlier—praised Dawson’s unique tone. “I love the shred in your voice,” the All of Me singer said. “It’s not natural.”

When it was Kelsea Ballerini’s turn to speak, the Heartfirst singer shared a heartfelt message with the contestant.

“Well hey, cowboy,” she began. “You arguably had the highest-stakes performance because our teams are full. There was only one spot left this season, and it was Adam’s. And he’s tough—because Blake [Shelton] has broken his heart over and over and over again.”

She continued, “That’s a long time of loving a genre you don’t get to coach because of Blake… I think he has a lot to work through. But maybe this is fate.”

Levine then had the final say, praising Dawson for his standout vocals, describing his voice as one that “cuts like a knife.”

“You’re singing a big song, the crowd is going wild, and the whole experience can be overwhelming. But you never let that shake you,” Adam Levine told Dawson. “Your voice rose above all the chaos, and that’s what sets great artists apart.”

He went on to say, “The ones who win this show are the ones with voices that cut through all the noise.”

Levine then shared a personal connection to Dawson’s journey. “I’m going to take all the ‘nos’ I’ve heard from country music and pour them into you. You can win this show, and you’ve got a bright future ahead. I’m really happy to have you on my team, man.”

Later, in a one-on-one interview, the She Will Be Loved singer described Dawson as the “perfect person to round out” his team and said he believed the young artist had a real shot at making it big in country music.
