Ten years after Randy Travis battled a life-threatening stroke caused by a rare form of heart failure, the country music community is coming together to honor and celebrate his legacy.
Outback Presents has recently unveiled plans for a tribute concert dedicated to Randy Travis. The event, titled ‘A Heroes & Friends Tribute to Randy Travis – 1 Night, 1 Place, 1 Time,’ is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Von Braun Center’s Propst Arena in Huntsville, Alabama.
David Lower, Booking Manager at Outback Presents, expressed his delight in being a part of this event that honors Randy Travis’ remarkable life and career. He also acknowledged the immense love for country music among the fans in Huntsville, who have consistently shown great support for the artists brought to their town, anticipating another sold-out concert.
Despite Randy Travis’ sharp mind, his speech is typically limited to only a few broken words at a time, and he often relies on a wheelchair or cane for mobility. While he can still sing, performing has become a challenge for him. However, on October 24, he won’t need to perform as a group of country artists, yet to be named, will come together in Alabama to pay tribute to the Country Music Hall of Famer by performing a selection of his 23 No. 1 songs. Outback Presents will announce the lineup of participating singers in the coming weeks.
Randy Travis’ manager, Tony Conway, expressed excitement about the event, calling it “A HEROES & FRIENDS TRIBUTE TO RANDY TRAVIS.” He assured that it will be an unforgettable night with superstar friends singing Randy’s greatest hits. The concert is expected to be a special occasion that fans should not miss.
Moreover, a portion of the concert’s proceeds will be donated to the Randy Travis Foundation, which focuses on raising awareness about stroke and aphasia, as well as supporting music education in schools.
